Some Changes

Sorry for the lack of updates. I don’t usually blog over the weekends or so. Plenty of things around to keep me occupied. Anyway, I did a couple of things, mostly to my comp. Call me a geek or what-ever you like.

I managed to get myself an extra one gigabyte of RAM. It cost me 300 bucks. Thanks to Toshiba for only using the most expensive RAM that’s available out there, the PC2700: DDR333. So now I have exactly 1.25 Gig RAM. Oh well, at least things are looking better.

I can use Windows Media Player 11 with ease.

I can run Adobe Photoshop, together with the music player, MSN and Firefox smoothly.

Programs are launched at a quicker speed.

I can view high-res videos with less problems. There’s still some laggy issues to deal with.

And best of all, my desktop looks better now. I’ve been using the lowest visual effects for faster performance.

Simple. But I like it.

  1. Since you are using XP, 1.25GB Ram will certainly make your PC fly.
My company just got me a new notebook running Vista. I’m using 2GB Ram. Performance is decent.

But I saw one of my customer using a new Sony Vaio running 1GB Ram.
You cannot believe how sluggish the performance.

The lesson: If you don’t have minimum 1.5GB Ram, forget about Vista.

  2. Haha. Not exactly flying la… it’s works better now. Sony laptops are just over-rated. They don’t perform but overly priced.

As for vista, if it’s just the basic package, I think 1GB would be sufficient because it does not use the Aero interface.

  3. Not true, that Sony is basic home. It’s like using a BMW chassis with a wira engine.
